Beta Club Criteria

-85.0 cumulative average for all high school credit courses
-Averages will be calculated at the end of 1st semester of a student's juniorand senior years.
-Students may not have any discipline infractions (ISS or OSS) for the current school year/year of eligibility

Building Construction Club
Sponsor:  Chris Ketterman

Mission statement:  The mission of the Building Construction Club is to provide the students of UCCC’s Construction program with a valuable resource to the basic elements of the construction industry most notably: exposure, and hands on experience. The Club is student run and organized to provide an experience that reflects the concerns and interests of the student body itself.

Our goals:

• Creating more interest in and understanding of the construction industry
  
  

• Strengthening the confidence of students in themselves and their work
  
  

• Encouraging members in the development of individual projects, which contribute to the improvement of home, business, and community
   
  

• Encouraging and practicing efficient money management

Honor Roll
Sponsors:  Anna Roark

Students who have all As or all As and Bs for each 9 weeks are recognized with a sticker on their report card and name listed in the local newspapers.  Students who have honor roll for the first three quarters of the year are recognized as having Honor Roll for the year. These students are invited to the academic ceremony and receive recognition for their accomplishments. The grades for each quarter determine the honor roll status - not the semester grades.

HOSA club

Health Occupation Students of America--students who are interested in health care careers. We provide service project opportunities and leadership positions. You do not have to take CATE Health Science classes but would be helpful. The cost to join is $30/year.

The mission of HOSA is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of all health science education students, therefore, helping the student meet the needs of the health care community.

Interact Club

Interact Club

Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 12 to 18.  Interact clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary clubs, which provide support and guidance, but they are self-governing and self-supporting.  As one of the most significant and fastest-growing programs of Rotary service, with more than 10,700 clubs in 109 countries and geographical areas, Interact has become a worldwide phenomenon.  Almost 200,000 young people are involved in Interact.  

To be a member of Interact at UCHS, members must:

Be in the top 30 students of the junior or senior class (a senior who has dropped out of the top 30 will remain in the club as well) or be in the top 10 of the sophomore class
Attend monthly meetings
Complete 5 service hours per 9 weeks for a total of 20 hours by the end of the school year
Participate in the Rotary Dinner Theatre held in Apr

Marching Band

Requirements:

• Student must first attend all Spring Camp Activities the previous spring semester. 

• Must be a current band student or colorguard members must complete the audition process. 

• Students in marching band must be enrolled in the class for their instrument. 

National Honor Society (NHS)
Sponsor:  Jessica Turner

The objective of this chapter is to create an enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote worthy leadership, and to encourage the development of character in students of Union County High School.

Membership:  Membership is based on Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character.

Scholarship:  A student must have and maintain a 95.0 cumulative average for all high school created courses.  Average is rounded to third decimal place and calculated at the end of 1st semester. Students must be a student of UCHS for at least one semester.

Service and Leadership:

Service falls under four categories:  School Activities, Leadership, Community Activities/Service, Awards and Honors.  Below is the total number a student is required to have per grade level.

Character:  As a member of the UCHS National Honor Society, a student cannot have any major discipline infractions, to include ISS, OSS, or misdemeanor of a serious nature throughout their high school careers (grades 9-12)

Retaining Membership:  To retain a membership, each member shall complete 45 service hours each year (9 each nine weeks), attend monthly meetings, and semester service projects.  If a student fails to turn in service hours for a nine-week period he/she will be notified in writing that they are on probation. 

If a member makes a decided drop in scholarship, they will be warned in writing.  If at the end of the grading period, the average has not improved, the parent shall be warned, and if at the end of another grading period the member has not pulled up the necessary average, said member shall be dropped from the National Honor Society.

As a member, a student may not have any major discipline infractions, to include ISS, OSS, or misdemeanor of a serious nature. Assignment to ISS or OSS during high school automatically disqualifies a student for membership.
